In an attempt to broaden its customer base and take advantage of a relatively narrow market niche, Chase Manhattan Bank recently started a trading desk that will aggressively manage the currencies of the Pacific Basin, as well as a host of other exotics. In addition, Chase now offers companies a toll-free telephone number allowing them direct access to the most active foreign exchange centers around the clock.

The Pacific Rim and exotic currency desk, as it is called, is managed by Paul Farrell
