Apac focus: Zaimi will remain in Hong Kong

Hossein Zaimi, HSBC's head of FX for Asia-Pacific (Apac), has swapped currencies for equity markets in assuming the role of global head of equities.

Based in Hong Kong, Zaimi will report to both Thibaut de Roux, head of global markets, and Gordon French, head of global banking and markets for Apac.

Zaimi takes over from Patrick George, who became head of global markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in June 2016.

"Hossein will leverage his experience and expertise in markets products and e-trading to strengthen our focus on cash equity execution, equity derivatives and prime finance solutions for our strategic clients globally," says de Roux.

Zaimi joined HSBC in 2004 from Credit Lyonnais (1998–04), becoming head of FX and precious metals derivatives for Apac. Since then he continued to focus on foreign exchange and precious metals until his current appointment.

"I look forward to leading the expansion of HSBC's equities business across all regions and providing our clients with a market-leading service," says Zaimi of his move.
