BarCap trading jumps 60%

Net trading income reached £3.56 billion ($6.94 billion), up from £2.23 billion ($4.35 billion) in 2005.

BarCap attributed the growth to strong contributions across the rates and credit businesses. The commodities, fixed-income, equities, credit derivatives and emerging markets businesses fared particularly well during the year.

Performance was driven by higher volumes of client-led activity and favourable market conditions, the bank said.
