China and Indonesia amend bilateral swap

The amendment, which was signed on October 17, allows Indonesia to swap rupiah against US dollars for up to $4 billion with the PBoC, and vice versa, when in need of short- term liquidity.

The swap was originally signed in October last year with the maximum swap amount set at $2 billion (FX Week, October 31, 2005). The BSA is also the second between the two central banks, after they originally entered into a swap valued at $1 billion in December 2003.
