Former Goldman Sachs FX chief launches hedge fund

Gerhard left Goldman Sachs in January after 23 years with the investment bank (FX Week, January 16). Gerhard became chief FX dealer in 1992, and was made a partner in 1994 when head of the FX trading desk in New York. When he left, he was a member of the divisional operating committee for FX.
Gerhard's fund will invest in currencies, equities, commodities and interest rate instruments. Banc of America Securities, the investment banking arm of Bank of America, is the fund's prime broker. The fund
