JP Morgan swipes HSBC rates chief

Simon Shorland, managing director in UK structured rates sales at HSBC in London, has left the UK bank, and his move is linked to JP Morgan locally. Shorland had been with HSBC since April 2004, having previously worked at Credit Lyonnais in London.

The rumoured appointment demonstrates the build-up in rates by the US bank under Patrik Edsparr, global head of rates at the bank in London. Edsparr took over control of the FX business last month in a sweeping reorganisation of the global commodities
