BoT acts to slow baht

The additional measures follow capital controls introduced on November 7 aimed at clamping down on speculative baht trading (FX Week, November 13). The weakening dollar trend has continued to weigh against Asian currencies, concerning regional central banks.

The baht has also gained as capital flows out of dollar-denominated markets into Asian markets due to the region's economic stability, said Tarisa Watanagase, the BoT governor.
