Australia adjusts currency basket

The basket is made up of 22 currencies that constitute 93.2% of Australia's bi-lateral trades, providing a gauge of the performance of the Australian dollar against its main trading partners.

The central bank increased the renminbi's weighting by one percentage point from last year to 16.4%, toppling the yen, which had been the most highly weighted currency in the basket since 1983. The yen's weighting of 15.4% remains broadly unchanged from last year.
