China's foreign assets reach $1.63 trillion

Foreign financial liabilities also rose by 21% year-on-year to reach $964.5 billion, the regulator found. Foreign reserves reached $1.07 trillion, the largest in the world for any country, and accounted for 66% of total financial assets, while China invested $229.2 billion in security products.

China's new, as yet unnamed state investment agency, recently took a $3 billion stake in US private equity firm Blackstone Group, investing some of its FX currency reserves.
