JSE futures volumes top $1bn

Thirty-day USD/ZAR volatility spiked to a record 24.3% on April 4 this year - more than twice its 11.9% level on June 18 last year, when the contracts were launched (FX Week, June 25, 2007). By June 17, volatility dropped to 15.7% but recent highs had already helped catapult the total value of JSE-traded currency futures to R10.2 billion ($1.3 billion), the exchange said.
