Afghan currency rises

KABUL -- Afghanistan’s currency rose last week as speculation there mounted that the nation’s exiled ex-king may return to the Taliban-ruled country.

Rumours have suggested that Mohammad Zahir Shah, who was dethroned in 1973, may return to Afghanistan.

Shah, who has lived in exile in Italy since he was dethroned, has offered to help establish a new government if the Taliban is ousted.
