HBOS launches merged treasury

LONDON -- The treasury division of HBOS, the bank formed through the September 2001 merger of Halifax and Bank of Scotland, started trading under the name of HBOS Treasury Services last week.

Although the two banks merged nearly a year ago, HBOS has spent the intervening period bringing the two businesses together, said Kelvin Jouhar, head of FX derivatives at HBOS in London.

The main focus for the new division will be to "play to our strengths", said Jouhar, in trading related to the bank’s
