Merrill Lynch Relocates Tokyo Desk To Singapore In Far East Expansion

Merrill Lynch International Bank is making a marked push to expand its presence in the Far East, starting with the relocation of its main FX trading desk back to Singapore from Tokyo. The U.S. investment bank plans to have the Singapore desk up and running before the beginning of the second quarter, pending approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, officials say.

Under the new plans, Singapore again will be Merrill's foreign exchange trading hub, primarily housing cash traders; Tokyo's
