The Chicago Mercantile Exchange reports that, following the US Federal Reserve Bank's rate cut on Thursday, October 15, the exchange's recently launched Globex2 electronic trading system experienced a surge in trading volumes. A total of 147,225 futures and options contracts changed hands on the following Friday, beating the previous record of 124,404 contracts traded over the old Globex system on September 1.
