Euro heavyweights add to Tobin FX tax debate

FRANKFURT -- Senior euro-zone politicians stepped into the debate on the controversial ‘Tobin’ tax on FX transactions last week, with Bundesbank president Ernst Welteke, European Union trade commissioner Pascal Lamy and Belgian finance minister Didier Reynders all rejecting the plan.
