Banks Rush Online To Keep Existing Clients

LONDON--Banks rushing to launch internet trading services are more conservative than they seem, according to a survey published by e-finance company, NetSys.

The survey, which covered 36 private, retail and investment banks in Europe, found that the main reason for launching internet trading platforms was to retain an existing clientbase.

Nearly half of all respondents--43 per cent--said this was the main reason they set up online brokerage services.
