BrokerTec chooses OM

BrokerTec, the electronic trading company, has chosen OM, the Swedish software group, to build its global trading platform. The move by BrokerTec, which is owned by 12 investment banks, advances its case to become the first global derivatives exchange.

The move disappoints Liffe, the London futures exchange, which had hoped its electronic system would be chosen, and follows the rapid spread of electronic trading in the world's fixed income and money markets.
