Merrill Lynch’s forex drive turns to research

NEW YORK -- Merrill Lynch has named Yianos Kontopoulos as global head of FX strategy, a move a senior official told FX Week is part of the bank’s global drive to become a major forex player.
"This is a new position," Bob McCann, global head of securities research at Merrill in New York, told FX Week. "The firm has identified that FX is a business that offers opportunities for Merrill. It is one of our key initiatives.
