Aussies loosen FX regulations

Overseas market-makers in derivatives or foreign exchange that have entered into an International Swaps and Derivatives Association (Isda) master agreement initiated by an Australian dealer or market-maker do not need an AFS licence for those market-making and dealing activities.

In March last year, a new regulation was introduced requiring all derivatives counterparties conducting a financial service in Australia to obtain an AFS licence unless subject to an exemption.
