Credit Agricole up, West LB down

Credit Agricole's corporate and investment banking business turned in strong first-half earnings. Net banking income rose almost 11% to E3.197 billion ($4.37 billion) from E2.889 billion in the first half of 2006.

The bank partly attributed the income gains to strong performances from its debt capital market, forex, equity derivatives and fixed-income derivatives businesses.
