BoE Issues Report on Concerns Over Euro Conversion Weekend

LONDON--The Bank of England (BoE) has issued a report outlining potential problems that could occur on the weekend of December 31, 1998, to January 4, 1999, when 11 European nations will join the single European currency.

The report, which has been presented to the European Commission, says the conversion weekend poses "greater than normal operational risk for Europe's firms and financial infrastructure".
