Romania Slaps FX Trading Ban On ING And Four Other Banks

National Bank of Romania has banned five banks including ING Bank of the Netherlands from dealing on their own account in the country's foreign exchange markets, claiming that they had failed to obey market rules.

ING Bank is the largest foreign bank in the country but can continue to act as a broker within strict limits to provide or sell foreign currency for customers despite the withdrawal of its dealing license.

"The licenses were withdrawn because these banks have failed to meet criteria
