Japanese banks appear to be re-establishing themselves of sorts in London with a number of notable hires and an eye on the exotic currencies, particularly those of central and Eastern Europe, say analysts and executives in London interviewed by FX Week.

Japanese banks are looking for new areas of profitability within the London FX market, apart from their traditional stronghold in yen-related products, sources say. To a lesser extent, these sources say the Japanese banks may also be taking these
