Generale Bank Forex Gains Increase 53 Per Cent For 1993

Generale Bank of Belgium reported 1993 foreign exchange earnings of BFr4.9 billion, a 53 per cent rise from its 1992 gain of BFr3.2 billion, according to bank officials. The gain in the second half of the year, BFr2.9 billion, was larger than that in the first half, unlike the experience of many market players.

Generale's overall trading gains were BFr6.5 billion. For the group as a whole, which includes subsidiary banks in Luxembourg, Switzerland, France and Hong Kong, trading gains were BFr9.5
