UK Still Years Distant From Euro-Zone

LONDON--The UK has made no progress towards meeting the government’s economic criteria for euro-zone membership and is years away from being able to join the single currency, according to research produced last week by the Institute of Directors.

The IoD, which has 60,000 members worldwide, says that UK chancellor Gordon Brown’s five economic tests for membership of the euro are inadequate because they are unquantifiable and there is nothing to suggest that the British economy is converging with
