GAO Derivatives Report Raises Concerns About Foreign Exchange Implications

REGULATORS

The Congressionally-mandated report on derivatives released by the General Accounting Office last week, calls for more regulatory oversight of the off-exchange derivatives industry. While many financial industry groups that have responded to the report laud the GAO's recognition of the benefits of derivatives, they uniformly oppose any proposed legislation to regulate the markets.
