AIG cuts ahead of integration

Although officials at AIG did not confirm the rumour last week, one source close to the firm said the 70 were mostly back-office staff, although some traders and researchers were also involved. Sales dealers were unaffected, the source said.

The bulk of the departures are from AIG Trading’s Connecticut office, although London has also been affected, the source added.

The integration of the two subsidiaries of AIG is expected to be completed in January, when the remaining Trading staff will leave
