Report reveals overlay lag

Just 23% of 341 managers surveyed for JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management’s study are using the tool, which manages currency exposure on other underlying assets. Of these, 42% said they did not believe currency overlay could be used to generate excess returns, in addition to its prime purpose of managing currency risk.

Investor sales managers said the results were not that surprising in light of the current pick-up in equities activity.
