Analysts expect the coming years to be tumultuous

Currency strategists and economists expect the pound to depreciate significantly as a result of Britain's exit from the European Union, which is likely to cause a shock to both businesses and consumers.

Britain voted to leave the monetary union on June 24, casting a shadow over the future of the country's relationship with the eurozone, its most important trading partner.

"This historic outcome is likely to have a lasting impact on sterling," says Paul Lambert, head of currency at Insight
