Russian ruble pricing changes provoke FX market debate

Price granularity in the Russian ruble could be reduced to 25 pips from the current five-pip pricing, as market participants fight back against aggressive high-frequency trading strategies that disrupt genuine trading flows.

Some algorithmic trading firms regularly jump in front of customer orders with small amounts that they cancel before trading can take place, in a bid to gain information about where the market is heading. The more incremental pricing is, the more successful these strategies
