The practices of high-frequency trading participants in the foreign exchange market were robustly defended by speakers at the FX Week Asia conference in Singapore on October 18.

“Many of the predatory unfair practices attributed to high-frequency traders are not new. There’s nothing new under the sun in trading, it’s just happening faster,” said Edward Blair, a high-frequency trader and chief executive of Microsecond Trading Software, a Singaporean consulting firm that has an exclusive licensing
