No need to shift the Hong Kong dollar peg

We expect changes to take place to pegged exchange rates in Malaysia and China.

Despite such potential adjustments in the yuan and ringgit pegs, we do not expect the USD/HKD link to follow the same path. Maintaining the status quo is the safest option for Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s financial secretary also reiterated on May 11 that the HKD peg won’t be adjusted even if the CNY is revalued.
