Less angst over short-term risk

BRUSSELS - The foreign exchange market has become less anxious about short-term risks, signalling normalising market conditions, according to the European Central Bank (ECB).

"Shorter-term expectations of exchange rate volatility have been significantly scaled down, signalling a return to ‘normal' market conditions," said Lorenzo Bini Smagi, an executive board member for the ECB. Bini Smagi was speaking at the ‘Towards a European foreign economic policy' conference in Brussels on April 6.
