Mazanec said this has caused the dollar to trade in ranges versus its major trading partners compared with the trends that developed for much of 2002 through early 2005. "Only recently, with the renewed pressure from the G7/IMF, have the major forex pairs enjoyed directional trade," Mazanec told FX Week.

He added that the question is how far the dollar will fall, with the theme of global imbalances being the key determinant for the greenback.
