JSE trades first $20m options contract

The landmark trade was conducted between an undisclosed fund and market-maker and comes less than a month after the product was launched on the exchange. The JSE launched options trading on its Yield-X platform on September 15, beginning with USD/ZAR options.

"We are going to see large trades in this specific product purely because options are a cheaper way of entering into the market," said Warren Geers, JSE's general manager of trading in Johannesburg.
