LONDON - Yield strategies for currency funds are undergoing their worst period since 1998, according to research by ABN Amro.

May was a month full of both opportunity and danger for currency managers, said James Binny, executive director of FX analytics and risk advisory at ABN Amro in London.

"Initially the fall in the US dollar continued, allowing currency managers, especially trend-followers, to benefit. However, when the falling dollar combined with other factors to cause more general asset market volatility, the fall in the dollar came to a choppy and erratic halt," he said.
