The vote and the dollar

A potential risk factor for the US dollar into the autumn is the US presidential election. This is constitutionally set for the Tuesday after the first Monday in November - this year the 4th - with the new president taking office at midday on January 20, Inauguration Day. The current election is unusual in modern US presidential history in that no incumbent president or vice-president ran for their party's nomination in the presidential election - the last time this occurred was in 1928.
