MAS maintains forex policy

The decision came as a surprise to some analysts that were expecting a re-centring of the Singapore dollar trading band to fend of inflationary pressures. JP Morgan for example, looked for a 1–1.5% revaluation of the trade-weighted index (TWI) band's mid-point.

However, MAS ruled out a re-centring of the policy band in light of recent appreciation in the currency and tightening of liquidity conditions. It said: "Although CPI inflation will come in higher this year, overall domestic inflationary
