Japanese Voice Brokers’ Rout Continues

TOKYO--Voice brokers’ market share in Japan continues to fall, according to the latest figures produced by Reuters. These show that on-line broking takes 85.7 per cent of the dollar/yen spot market and 89.0 per cent of the spot euro/dollar and dollar/DM market.

This compares with just 27.4 per cent of the dollar/yen spot market in 1995 when electronic matching services first appeared.

Five years ago there were eight voice brokers in the Tokyo market. Of these only three--Nittan Exco, Tokyo Forex
