Nordic Banks Report Mixed Year In FX; Further Consolidation Expected In 1998

LONDON--Nordic banks are showing mixed FX results for 1997, but market participants generally cite strong domestic activity and customer demand as supporting the business. These sources also note a continuing shift into emerging markets, particularly the Eastern European currencies, as a key factor behind those showing stronger returns for last year.
