The Bank of Japan reports that dollar/yen turnover in Tokyo for the holiday-shortened week ended January 6 totalled $6.36 billion, up from the $3.34 billion total for the week ended December 30. Average daily dollar/mark turnover for the same period also rose to $3.54 billion from $1.32 billion respectively.

Japan's foreign exchange reserves hit record levels for the tenth straight month in December when forex reserves increased by $782 million over the previous month to reach $122.85 billion.
