Black Wednesday Boosts Reuters Volume But Dealing 2000-2 Volume Remains Flat

The recent turmoil in the currency markets has on the face of it been a good thing for Reuters Holdings PLC. A Reuters spokesman says a record 310,000 dealing conversations went through the Monitor Dealing and Dealing 2000-1 systems on Black Wednesday, 1.5 times as many as the 200,000 average. And over the course of that week, some 1.36 million such conversations took place, up from the 1 million average, he says.

But analysts appear divided on whether the chaos will ultimately benefit Reuters
