US Monetary Authorities Report No Market Intervention In Q3

The US monetary authorities did not intervene in the foreign exchange markets during the third quarter, reports the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The last intervention by US authorities was during the third quarter in 1995.

During this year's third quarter, the Fed reports the dollar appreciated 5.0 per cent against the Japanese yen and 0.8 per cent against the Deutschemark, while on a trade-weighted basis it appreciated 1.4 per cent against other G10 currencies.

The dollar reached eight-year
