Where’s the top in euro/sterling?

Euro-convergence, euro strength and UK policy confusion all conspired to bring sterling to a 30-month low against the euro last week, say David Bloom and Mark Austin of HSBC’s currency strategy division

Euro/sterling has risen from 0.6100 to a high of 0.6490 since the start of April, and has also breached the high seen in August last year. This rise has been driven by three factors:

Euro-convergence. Political signals seem to indicate that an accelerated EMU timetable -- economic tests late
