Fed Report Praises Electronic Trading In Volatile Conditions

NEW YORK--The latest quarterly report by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which covers the period between October and December last year, comes out in support of electronic trading in volatile and fast moving markets.

The statement marks a turnaround in sentiment from a previous report by the New York Foreign Exchange Committee on the risks associated with electronic trading (FXW, January 12, 1998).

That survey warned that prices are likely to be misquoted in volatile conditions as dealers
