US Banks Expect Slowdown In Interim Trading Profits

NEW YORK--With most of the US commercial banks preparing to publish their interim earnings results this week, most market participants are expecting a weaker showing in FX than last year.

"It's been a slow few months," says one New York sales dealer. "The hedge funds are doing very little, and most of the business is from the corporate sector. You have some good days, but generally it's not been great -- especially compared to last year."

A number of factors have conspired to reduce trading
