Greece is in discussions with the European Central Bank regarding possible revaluation of the drachma's central parity against the euro to assist the country's EMU entry, which is slated for 2001.

According to Greek prime minister Costas Simitis, decisions regarding the revaluation will take place next year.

The Hungarian government is to propose that it cut its monthly forint crawling peg devaluation rate twice next year in its talks with the European Central Bank taking place this week.
