Record Euro Low

The euro dropped to $1.0325 on Thursday, its lowest point yet against the US dollar. At the beginning of last week, the slide was halted for two days following rumours that the European Central Bank might intervene in the market and raise interest rates after reports that Ernst Welteke, president-designate of the Bundesbank, said the currency needed "close monitoring". However, analysts are now convinced that intervention is unlikely and the currency has continued its downward
