As the U.S. dollar hit an all-time low against the yen on March 7, trading volume and open interest in Japanese yen futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) set new single-day records, with a total 89,778 yen contracts traded and a closing open interest of 110,580 contracts.

Overnight trading in Japanese yen futures on Globex, the CME's electronic trading system, grew to 2,449 contracts over the two-day period March 6 to 7, only to be surpassed on March 8, when total volume reached 2
