Swiss franc loses ground as domestic data disappoints

The Swiss franc’s fall last week will have pleased the Swiss National Bank, says Sonja Marten, FX strategist at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in Frankfurt

The Swiss franc lost ground across the board last week. Against the dollar, it fell from levels around Sfr1.48 towards Sfr1.5090, while e/Sfr rallied from Sfr1.4550 to Sfr1.4680 by Friday morning.

The depreciation of the Swiss franc was a surprise to the extent that one might have expected heightened global risk aversion, against the backdrop
